Manrae
Manrae came out of England like a shooting star; blink and they were gone. They released three tracks on the Pacata Hibernia 7" and also one track on the HeartattaCk #10 compilation. The Manrae sound was very reminiscent of Bob Tilton with fantastically moody music and inspired singing. The songs have an almost sad or melancholy feel to them and yet they are alive with a very passionate energy. Emotive hardcore from the mid '90s.

Indian Summer
Sep. 4th, 2007 | 11:03 am
emo old stuff
oakland, California
United States

From Wikipedia:
Indian Summer was an early and influential Screamo band originally from Oakland, California. Their sound leaned heavily on loud-soft dynamics, pushed to the extremes on either end. Many of their songs built up to chaotic, cathartic climaxes; in which the singer screamed the lyrics (often past the point of easy intelligibility) while the band tore into their instruments. The other end of the spectrum involved spoken or whispered lyrics, coupled with delicately picked single note guitar lines and light drumming.

The band released a split 7" with Embassy, and split 7 inches with Current and Ordination of Aaron. They also released a song on Eucalyptus Compilation (2x7") on Tree Records, a song on the Food Not Bombs compilation LP on Inchworm Records, and a song on the Ghost Dance compilation (2x7") on Slave Cut Records. The discography "science 1994" was released in 2005 and "Hidden Arithmetic" in 2006, both on the futurerecordings label.
Note on naming: Indian Summer did not name any of their songs, and as such multiple names have been invented by fans. Where multiple titles exist in common use, both are given, separated by a slash.

Catena Collapse
Jun. 15th, 2007 | 11:52 pm
emo old stuff
Catena Collapse is a emo band from Norway.
The band takes a darker but at the same time more melodic approach with those new songs and the sound is somewhat reminiscent of the late 80´s/early 90´s Dischord stuff. Powerful and haunting music with the now trademarked rambled vocals. Rai Rai Rai/Outback Songs is a set of longer, moodier songs (the last one clocking in on over 10 minutes!). More desperate and more dynamic with a very strong lyrical content. Overall you get a feeling of this being a different band compared to the earlier releases, older and more pissed off. The members also plays in bands like The Birds Are Spies and Dominic. Previous releases includes an other 12" and split 7"s with Sinaloa and La Quiete.

One Last Wish “1986” [записано в 1986, Dischord, 1999]
Along with the political and musical evolution that was associated with "Revolution Summer", the mid-80s in the Washington, DC saw the development of the group house culture that would become a centerpiece of the DC punk underground for many years to come. The Garfield Street house in the Cathedral neighborhood of DC was started in 1985 and its occupants included Brendan Canty and Guy Picciotto of Rites of Spring (and later, Fugazi) as well as Michael Hampton and Ivor Hansen of Embrace. After these two bands split up in early 1986, having only played a dozen or so shows each, Michael joined up with three ex-ROS members (Brendan, Guy and Eddie) to form One Last Wish. However this band proved to be even more short-lived than its predecessors, playing only 6 shows over the 4 months they were together. Their last activity as a band was the recording of a 12-song tape at Inner Ear Studios in November. Since the band never really had a chance to develop before folding, and because Dischord was trying to lose the reputation of releasing only posthumous records, the One Last Wish tape ended up laying dormant for many years. One song was released on the State of the Union compilation in 1989, which increased the already existing interest in the recording. Finally, ten years later, the entire session came out as a Dischord/Peterbilt co-release.

Rites of Spring s/t LP [Dischord, 1985], “All Through A Life” 7’’ [Dischord, 1987]

Весной 1984 года был сформирован новый коллектив Rites of Spring, состоящий из участников The Untouchables/Faith и Deadline.
Rites of Spring was a hardcore band from Washington, D.C., often cited as pioneering the Emotionally charged hardcore punk (Emo) movement.
Although they were only together from the spring of 1984 through the winter of 1986, they are often credited with helping to define the Emo genre along with the bands Dag Nasty and Embrace.
Following the band's dissolution, singer and guitarist Guy Picciotto, guitarist Eddie Janney, and drummer Brendan Canty formed One Last Wish with Embrace alumnus, bassist Michael Hampton. The three later joined former Rites bassist Michael Fellows for a quasi-reincarnation of Rites of Spring named Happy Go Licky, releasing an LP/CD of various live concert recordings though never producing any studio work. Picciotto and Canty eventually teamed up with the former Embrace singer Ian MacKaye (owner of the band’s label, Dischord Records) in Fugazi.
Rites of Spring was the band’s self-titled debut album from 1985. Its twelve songs were recorded at Inner Ear Studios in February of 1985, and released on vinyl in June of that year as Dischord Records #16. The album was rereleased on CD and cassette in 1987, with an additional track from the same session, "Other Way Around," as well as the four songs from the Rites' follow-up EP, All Through a Life, Dischord #22. The CD and cassette originally retained the number "16" while the 1991 repress, as well as the 2001 remastered version of the same seventeen songs, were numbered "16CD" and given the new title End on End.
The name of this band is the name of a pagan ritual performed in the spring.
